May 13, 2011 FRI

Fr. Sirenio Jaranilla arrived in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur via Cebu Ferries that left Cebu at 730 pm of May 12. The boat docked at Nasipit by 730 am. Fr. Alaindelon Balasabas welcomed his arrival in Nasipit. With Fr. Alain came with a teacher and a student from Mount Carmel College, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. Jun Villanueva drove the second-hand van procured by the Carmelites of San Francisco. Upon his arrival in San Francisco, he was warmly welcomed by the new Parish Priest, Fr. Artemio "Tim" Jusayan.

MAY 14, 2011 SAT

The community talked with the Parish youth regarding a lot of concerns. First to be discussed was the coming Youth Camp to be done in Mount Carmel College and we challenged the youth to be proud of their being members of the Carmelite parish. To show to the world that we are not Youfra (Franciscan Youth) nor are we Jesuit Youth but that we are Carmelite youth. We need to live the charism of the Carmelite order to become prayerful witnesses, to value silence amidst noise of the world.

This day is also the birthday of Janjan Deo, a working student of Sacred Heart Parish. We had a simple dinner with ice cream and cake for Janjan.








MAY 15, 2011 SUN

A lot of Masses and fiesta of San Isidro. That means a lot of feasting too… Fr. Tim said the first Mass, this was aired on the radio. The second Mass was by Fr. Toto. The fiesta Mass was done by Fr. Tim with 60 baptisms in San Isidro. 3pm children’s Mass was done by Fr. Toto and the evening Mass was done by Fr. Alain. Today we blessed three new cars and an apartment building.

May 16, 2011 MON

Saint Simon Stock feast day. The parish catechists especially dedicated their ministry to him here in Sacred Heart Parish… so it was a very special occasion with us Carmelites here in Agusan. They had a morning program highlighted with treasure hunting in search of 35 rosaries hidden in the bushes and trees around the convent. At 10am we celebrated the fiesta Mass, Fr. Tim Jusayan presided the Eucharist and Fr. Toto Jaranilla expounded on the life of Saint Simon Stock to the catechists… with the challenge to follow the Saint in his holiness and living the balance between Silence, Prayer, Community Life, Devotion to Mary, Action and Service.

MAY 17, 2011 TUE

Fr. Aris Escobal of Young Carmel Philippine Foundation visited the community. He is here to assess the performance of the host-making project and to systematize the reporting of Carmelitana Store of Agusan. He was fetched by Fr. Tim who also went to procure power regulators for our sound system here in Agusan... this is necessary as the power is always fluctuating here causing untimely destruction of our electrical machines.



MAY 18, 2011 WED

Two weddings and a fiesta today. The first wedding in the morning was that of Poyoy and Prescy Raya's niece. It was officiated by Fr. Toto Jaranilla. The afternoon wedding was officiated by Fr. Alain Balasabas. Fr. Tim went to the fiesta Mass in Bitan-agan.

MAY 19, 2011 THU

The Youth Camp of the parish of Sacred Heart launched off with more than 300 youth gathering in Mount Carmel College campus. The night turned raucous inside the campus as the youth get to know each other. The youth were welcomed by the Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto and Fr. Alain concelebrated in the opening Mass. Fr. Toto challenged the youth in his homily to follow their theme: “Good teacher, what must I do to gain eternal life?” He expounded, “that since we are Carmelite youth, we should follow the advice of our lawmaker and teacher, St. Albert of Jerusalem when he said, “Your loins are to be girt with purity, your breast fortified by holy meditations (prayer), for as Scripture has it, holy meditation (prayer) will save you. Put on holiness as your breastplate, and it will enable you to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and strength, and your neighbour as yourself. Faith must be your shield on all occasions, and with it you will be able to quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked one.” Fr. Alain is the over-all overseer of the said activity.




MAY 20, 2011 FRI

The day can be considered a reconciliation day as Fr. Tim with Fr. Toto assisting gave confession to more than a hundred children. Fr. Tim went to San Isidro in the morning and heard confession there and in the afternoon another hundred children were gathered in the parish Church. Fr. Alain is still busy on the second day of the Youth Camp inside the Mount Carmel College campus.

MAY 21, 2011 SAT

Two weddings and two funerals today as we have two Requiem Masses in the morning presided by Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto and the weddings by Fr. Alain and Fr. Toto consecutively. It was also the last night of Summer Youth Camp with their Variety show where the youth showcased their talents in acting, dancing, comical skits, fashion show and what not. Poblacion Zone got the first prize. We were happy as we have some visitors from the Diocesan District Youth Council and from our neighboring Parish, Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish of Patin-ay. The visitors served as judges also to the Variety Show.





MAY 22, 2011 SUN

More than a hundred children received the first communion as one of the major activities of the Flores De Mayo today. Last minute confessions with more than 50 children were done by Fr. Toto Jaranilla. Fr. Tim Jusayan officiated the children’s Mass at 3pm where the first communion took place. Today marked the last day of the Summer Youth Camp with Fr. Alain celebrating the Closing Mass.

MAY 23, 2011 MON

Fr. Tim went to bless the new machines of FPPI. He was thinking all the while that he will bless machineries on the ground, too late to learn that he has to climb very high stairwell to bless the machines, most of the machines are even on operation which is of course very hot while he was blessing these. The whole factory area is very large that it took him sometime to finish the blessings. When he finished, our driver, Jun Villanueva commented that he was very red already due to heat and sweating profusely. Fr. Toto Jaranilla celebrated the morning Mass and an unscheduled First Communion in Bayugan II with almost 50 first communicants. He visited his host parent also Vicky Galaura and talked about their life as a family at the moment. Fr. Alain welcomed a new teacher of Mount Carmel College, Danny Omatang who was a former seminarian of St. Joseph’s Seminary from the Diocese of Dumaguete.

MAY 24, 2011 TUE

Fr. Alain went to Saint Ferrer Parish of Patin-ay for the novena Mass. Fr. Toto had a wedding in the morning. Fr. Tim went to a barrio fiesta with the Carmel youth in Buenasuerte. In the afternoon, the Carmel Youth had their music practice.

MAY 25, 2011 WED

The community met in the afternoon and discuss some important matters regarding our community. Since Fr. Eman Vallega is yet to come, we decided to temporarily appoint Fr. Tim as prior, Fr. Toto as Bursar and Fr. Alain as the Bookkeeper. We assessed the ongoing repairs of the old convent by inspecting the work so far. Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto will have an audience with the Bishop of Butuan, Juan De Dios Pueblos, this coming Friday morning to request also for celebret. The Novena Mass at 5:30pm was officiated by Fr. Toto. Fr. Alain was with the Carmel Youth conducting in the choir.

MAY 27, 2011 FRI

Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto went to have an audience with Bishop Juan De Dios Pueblos, DD the local ordinary of the Diocese of Butuan. We requested for a celebret from the good bishop and gave also a sack of rice as a share to Bishop's Residence in Ampayon, Butuan. In the afternoon, the Carmel Youth had their election Karl Mulawan and Kharyl Alfeche were elected Prior and Prioress respectively. In the evening, we visited Fr. Vincent Cadiz (Dom Austin) who celebrated his birthday here in Agusan with his family.

The day started with the Carmel Youth joining the Walk for a Cause at 4am. Today, the Poblacion Parish Youth went for a swim in Juvelan swimming pool in Bayugan 2. Fr. Toto joined them in the afternoon. Fr. Alain went with the teachers of Mount Carmel College to the beach.

Usual Sunday Masses with Fr. Alain celebrating the 6am Radio Mass. Fr. Toto celebrated the Mass at 8am and at 1pm, he had confession to first communicants who received communion at 3pm Mass. The afternoon Mass at 5pm was celebrated by Fr. Tim.

MAY 29, 2011 MON

Today, we have our first Confirmation after the Bishop had given us authority to administer this to those who are getting married. Since Fr. Estong Malandac left, there had been no confirmation until now as we held in abeyance all confirmation as we do not have the authority to do so. The Bishop during our audience had given this authority to the Carmelite fathers for marriage purposes only.

MAY 30, 2011 TUE

The Carmel Youth were given formation on the Carmelite Rule today by Fr. Toto Jaranilla. Fr. Alain had his laboratory check-up for Fasting Blood Sugar today. We received the visit also of Fr. Doodz Endriga from the Diocese of Butuan.

JUNE 1, 2011 WED

Fr. Alain went to Davao for his annual check-up of his Blood Sugar. He is glad that at the moment the results have shown great improvements in his sugar level which is now normal. Fr. Tim celebrated the 6am Mass and the Fiesta Mass. Fr. Toto had a funeral in the afternoon and celebrated the 5:30pm Mass with the youth.

Fr. Tim went to Davao for health check-up. The Carmelite Schools of Agusan started their school orientation and planning today with Fr. Alain presiding. Fr. Toto did blessings in San Francisco Market.

JUNE 3, 2011 FRI

Fr. Toto went home to Bukidnon to give an orientation to Extraordinary Ministers of his parish and to attend the Diaconal ordination of one of his former students in catechesis. Fr. Tim and Fr. Alain attended the Parish Pastoral planning of Sacred Heart Parish.

The family of Fr. Christopher Exala who is buried here in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur came over to pay their visit as we celebrate the first anniversary of his death. Fr. Alaindelon with some parishioners accompanied the visitors to the grave. On visit also is Lorna Van Vugt who joined Fr. Alain and the group in the cemetery. The exact date of Fr. Topie's anniversary is June 6 but they chose this day, Sunday as most of the family members have work on Monday. In all the Masses in the Parish, Fr. Topi is remembered.

Visit of our Commissary General, Fr. Christian Buenafe to the community to oversee the reorganization of the community; also to give updates of the Commissary General and Council's plan for the next triennium. Fr. Toto arrived from Bukidnon in the evening.

JUNE 9, 2011 THU

Today we meet for the election of our community officers supervised by Fr. Christian Buenafe, our Commissary General. Elected as Community Prior is Fr. Tim Jusayan. Elected as community bursar is Fr. Toto Jaranilla. Weng Ladaga paid a visit to the community. She arrived from Timor Leste a few weeks ago. Together with Weng and Fr. Superior, we had our Lunch at Maya's.

JUNE 10, 2011 FRI

The first day of novena Mass of Sacred Heart Fiesta here in San Francisco. Fr. Tim celebrated the Mass with Fr. Eman Vallega and Fr. Toto Jaranilla concelebrating. Fr. Toto gave the homily which expounded on the theme, "Heart of Jesus source of Highest Love." He reminded the people not to make Pista as P-Pagkaon, I-Inom, S-Sugal, T-Tari which often results to A-Away. Instead to focus on P-Prayer, I-Igsoonay, S-Santos nga Sakripisyo sa Misa, T-Tabangay which will lead to real A-Alagaray. Today marked also the arrival of the two postulants: Sem. Mike and Sem. Christian together with Bro. Irvin Mangmang who will stay here up to December for pastoral integration.

JUNE 11, 2011 SAT

The novena Mass at 6am in San Francisco was officiated by Fr. Eman with Bro. Bal Ronato giving the homily. Bro. Bal accompanied the postulants in coming here from Cebu. Today marked also the Despedida and Bienvenida in Rosario Parish for Fr. Boy Ramos and incoming Parish Priest, Fr. Eman Vallega. The Parish Pastoral Council prepared a program with almost a hundred people attending the program in the Parish Hall. Food was served during lunch time to all the visitors. San Francisco Parish joined in the occasion with the presence of Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto.

JUNE 12, 2011 SUN

Fr. Toto said the on-the-air Mass at 6am and also the 8am Mass. Bro. Irvin Mangmang helped in the Baptism at 10am. Fr. Tim celebrated the barrio Mass and the afternoon Masses. The Carmel Youth officers had their meeting today in the Kubo Chapel.

JUNE 13, 2011 MON

Feast of San Antonio de Padua. The 6am Mass was celebrated by Fr. Toto who expounded on the life of San Antonio as a lover of Christ, preacher of Christ and who lived the words of Christ. All his miracles are geared towards getting know deeper Jesus Christ. That his life is characterized by prayer and we too should emulate such example. The postulants and Fr. Tim went to Lapinigan to celebrate the annual fiesta. Lapinigan's patron saint is San Antonio de Padua. The postulants experienced the hospitality of the people during the fiesta. In the evening, Fr. Eman, Fr. Toto, Bro. Irvin and the postulants were invited to a birthday celebration of a parish lay minister. We had a good meal and a good laugh as we shared jokes.

JUNE 14, 2011 TUE

Fr. Eman Vallega and Fr. Toto Jaranilla together with Fr. Tim attended for the first time the Vicariate Assembly of Pastors and Pastoral Council members here in Agusan. We learned that our Vicariate is called Paper Rose (PPROSS), an acronym for Prosperidad, Patin-ay, Rosario, San Francisco and Santa Irene Quasi Station. The Vicariate meeting was held in Rosario Parish with dinner served courtesy of Rosario Parish. We discussed on the many problems that beset our parishes and the environs here in our district.






JUNE 15, 2011 WED

Fr. Alain arrived from his home visit. The postulants together with Fr. Tim visited the farm in Patin-ay and discovered that the postulancy house needs immediate termite treatment as the woods used in the house are 30% eaten by termites. The grass around the house are very thick that according to Fr. Tim, this should be cut otherwise snakes might be creeping under the grass.

Fr. Tim with Bro. Irvin and the two postulants went to Barobo to see the condition of our land near the seashore. Fr. Alain and Fr. Toto were in the school for classes.

JUNE 17, 2011 FRI

Holy Spirit Mass for Mount Carmel College. Fr. Toto was the main celebrant with Fr. Alain assisting. Fr. Toto expounded on the gifts of the Holy Spirit embedded even in the different school subjects and courses.

Pre-Fiesta celebration. We welcomed the many visitors to the community for the annual fiesta. From Manila, we have a visit of Fr. Eddie AlbiƱo, former parish priest of San Franz and also Mona from the Manila procure. From Cagayan de Oro, Angging and Nol Van Vugt together with their grandchildren join the festivities.

JUNE 19, 2011 SUN

Annual Fiesta of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. At 6am we have the baptism with almost 60 children officiated by Fr. Toto and Fr. Alain assisting. The Fiesta Mass was celebrated by Bishop Juan De Dios Pueblos at 8:30 am with 200 adults receiving the sacrament of confirmation. In the evening the community together with the visitors had a simple dinner peppered with songs and dances of the staff and lay workers.








JUNE 20, 2011 MON

The postulants with Fr. Tim went to the Por Cristo Home for the Aged and Infirm. They brought with them some vegetables, fruits and lechon for the aged and infirm. The postulants got their integration with the oldies thru dancing and playing. In San Francisco, Fr. Toto accompanied the Carmel Youth during their swimming outing in the Jubilan Swimming pool.

The community had their planning on who will be the other officers of the community. Decided were the posts for Assitant Prior: Alain; Secretary: Irvin Mangmang; Bookkeeper: Alain; Chronicler: Toto/Eman; News Writer: Toto/Eman; Liturgist: Alain; TOC Spiritual Director: Toto; Carmelite Family: Alain/Toto and Parish Youth Chaplain: Alain. Fr. Eddie joined us in our meeting as we have some things to clarify with him regarding the integration of Bro. Irvin Mangmang to our community.

JUNE 22, 2011 WED

In the afternoon, Mass was Mother of Perpetual Help novena and Mass was celebrated by Fr. Toto Jaranilla with Bro. Irvin Mangmang and Sr. Lurian of the Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady (CarmOL) helping in the communion. Today, Fr. Tim had his haircut after many months.

Fr. Emman got colds and fever. In the afternoon, he got a massage. Classes in Mount Carmel College is back to normal after days of vacation due to Rizal day and Araw ng San Francisco.

JUNE 24, 2011 FRI

Orientation of first year College students of Mount Carmel College. Fiesta Mass of St. John the Baptist was celebrated by Fr. Toto Jaranilla. He reminded the people to focus on Christ as John did... he pointed out to us the Messiah. His center was the Lord... he even asserted, Jesus must increase and I must decrease. His act of humility and love is complete when he offered his own life for the sake of truth. Fr. Tim went to Butuan to procure the tiles for the refectory of the old convent that is still undergoing repairs.

JUNE 25, 2011 SAT

Fr. Alain went to Malaybalay, Bukidnon at around 1am to arrange for the Teacher's Retreat which will take place in the Jesuits Retreat House in Impalambong, Malaybalay, Bukidnon. The Carmel Youth today got lecture on Cum Nulla.

JUNE 26, 2011 SUN

Corpus Christi Sunday. Fr. Toto took all the masses in the morning in San Franz while Fr. Tim went to the Barrio in New Visayas. Along the way, they got lost and the car almost met an accident. When they arrived in the barrio, they realized that the Chapel was closed as the people did not know that there is supposed to be a Sunday Mass. They were thankful to be back in the monastery. Fr. Tim said all the Masses in the afternoon. Fr. Alain arrived at 6pm from Malaybalay, Bukidnon. For Supper, we had a despedida for Fr. Eddie who stayed with us since fiesta. Some of Fr. Eddie's close friends came over to join in the Supper and sing-along instant program.

JUNE 27, 2011 MON

Fr. Tim went to Pasta to celebrate their first Araw ng Pasta. Fr. Toto said the morning Mass and went to Bayugan 2 to give the Sacrament of Healing and Viaticum. Fr. Alain joined during Lunch time the birthday celebration of the High School Principal of Mount Carmel College.

JUNE 28, 2011 TUE

The community joined the Presbyterium in Butuan. Our vicar forane introduced us to the assembly. We arrived there at 8am and was welcomed by Bishop Juan De Dios Pueblos. Our celebret was also given by the diocesan chancelor. Fr. Tim was given additional faculty that was granted to Fr. Estong Malandac before.

First module of the Carmelite Postulants and Associates (Arlene Cabanban, Lea Cabanban & Bebeth Rejas) on The Ten Books on the Way of Life and the Great Deeds of the Carmelites or in Latin Decem Libri De Institutione et Peculariabus Gestis Religiosorum Carmelitarum which includes The Book of the First Monks (Liber de Institutione Primorum Monacharum). The earliest record of the history of our Order.

JUNE 30, 2011 THU

Second day on the module of The Ten Books on the Way of Life and the Great Deeds of the Carmelites the module is given by Fr. Sirenio Jaranilla to the postulants and associates. The postulants delivered their poem culled from their experiences. The Faculty and Staff of Mount Carmel College at the very early morning went to the Jesuit Retreat House in Malaybalay, Bukidnon for their annual retreat. Fr. Alain Balasabas served as the guide for the whole group.

JULY 1, 2011 FRI

Fr. Tim said the morning Mass observing today the feast of the Sacred Heart. The postulants ended today, the three day module on The Book of the First Monks.

JULY 2, 2011 SAT

Carmel Family Mass in Rosario. Fr. Boy Ramos was the celebrant, Fr. Toto Jaranilla, the homilist and co-celebrant, Fr. Emman Vallega. A breakfast was shared by the members of the Carmelite Family in the GKK Hall after the Mass.

Fr. Alain arrived from Retreat in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. The postulants and Bro. Irvin Mangmang went to the barrio with Fr. Tim Jusayan. Fr. Toto did the on-the-air Mass and also the Mass at 8am. This was followed by baptism and blessings.

The community held its recomposed community planning in GKK Hall. We stated our Vision and Mission as follows:

JULY 5, 2011 MON

The community with the postulants and some co-workers, had its first outing after the planning concluded. We went to the Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao Sur and indeed were enchanted by its beauty. The boat ride brought us to the Vanishing island and inside the fishpen where we had our fishing and rode on the back of the great sea turtle (pawikan).











JULY 6, 2011 WED

Arrival of the vehicle 4x4 Boondocks to be used for the barrio Masses. The money used to buy this car is from the Commissariat share. Fr. Tim went to Butuan City to arrange for the exposure of the postulants in Por Cristo House of Elderly.

JULY 7, 2011 THU

The postulants left for Por Cristo exposure. They were accompanied by Fr. Tim, the postulant Director, for further discussions with the Por Cristo Center. It is also our community night with the associates. Prelim exams of Mount Carmel College began today.

JULY 8, 2011 FRI

Fr. Alain left at 5:30am for Loreto to attend the Wedding of a school employee in Mount Carmel College. Fr. Tim celebrated the morning Mass and Fr. Toto went to DPWH for the monthly Mass.

JULY 9, 2011 SAT

Frs. Tim and Alain were busy in the Parish for weddings and funerals as Fr. Toto was unavailable due to his whole schedule to Lecom (Lectors and Commentators) recollection. More than 200 lectors, commentators and psalmists from different barrios and barangays came over for the said recollection.

JULY 10, 2011 SUN

Fr. Tim and Fr. Toto went to the barrios this Sunday. Fr. Toto in Alegria had to do the Mass wedding of 18 pairs and baptism of 16 children. Fr. Alain celebrated the on-the-air Mass and all the other Masses in the morning.

Fr. Toto and Bebe Atamosa are trying to organize the financial system to make up the balance of our income and expenses.

JULY 12, 2011 TUE

Frs. Tim, Emman, Boy Ramos, and Bro. Irvin Mangmang went to Dapdap Resort for a swim and some fishing. Fr. Toto was left in the parish in case there are immediate sacramental needs. Fr. Alain went to Butuan to attend a ACEA meeting in Father Urios College. In the evening, the community joined the clergy, parish council and lay cooperators in the Vicarial meeting held in Sta. Irene. The host of the meeting were the Stigmatine Fathers and Brothers.

JULY 13, 2011 WED

The community watched on the television how the CBCP returned the vehicles used for charity to the PCSO. In their humility, we admire their capacity to ask forgiveness. It is when the Church of the Philippines is bowed down that it is resplendent. Let this be a lesson for us to be careful in approaching government agencies for solicitation. This became a united stand for the Agusan Carmel. The "second hand" car for Rosario parish which is procured at a very minimal price arrived today. Fr. Emman and Arlene Cabanban got the vehicle from Butuan. Only a hundred thousand is paid for the pick-up by the parish of Rosario.




JULY 15, 2011 FRI

Mount Carmel College of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur celebrated earlier its fiesta of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as it is Saturday tomorrow (July 16). After the Mass, the blessing of the land inside the Campus in preparation for a covered court was done in the school. Floral offerings were done by the students and pupils to the Lady's statue inside the campus.

JULY 16, 2011 SAT

The Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is well-observed by the family of Carmel here in Carmel Agusan. With the participation of tertiaries from Prosperidad, Rosario and San Francisco. The Carmel Youth of Prosperidad, Patin-ay, Rosario, Lapinigan and San Francisco are alive and jubilant. It was a fiesta to remember. The Solemn Mass took place at 6am celebrated by the Prior of the community, Rev. Fr. Artemio Jusayan, O.Carm. concelabrating are Frs. Emmanuel Vallega, Sirenio Jaranilla, Alain Balasabas (who was also conducting the choir) and Dionisio Ramos. After the Mass, a hearty breakfast followed in the GKK hall. When the breakfast was through, presentations from all Carmelite centers commenced.




In the evening, our 3 Associates members were received as full-fledged members after 6 years. Received are Mr. Arlene Cabanban, Mrs. Lea Cabanban and Merly Presentacion Rejas. Our Prior celebrated the Mass of their acceptance. After the Mass, an agape dinner was shared by everyone. Our congratulations to our new Associates.



JULY 17, 2011 SUN

The visitors from Por Cristo and the relatives of Bro. Irvin Mangmang who joined us during the fiesta celebrations of Our Lady of Mount Carmel went home. The postulants who were here to celebrate with us the fiesta went back with the Por Cristo staff to the Home for the Elderly.

JULY 18, 2011 MON

Fr. Emman left very early to attend the ordination of two of our confreres in Manila. They are Rev. Edgar Cayanan and Rev. Fernando Lopez. They will be ordained priest on July 20, 2011.

JULY 19, 2011 TUE

Fr. Toto Jaranilla went to Manila, via Davao, to attend the ordination of Frs. Deng Lopez and Edgar Cayanan. He left around 5:30am in San Francisco and arrived in Davao at 10am. Both Frs. Emman and Toto stayed in the Institute of Spirituality Center in Asia rooms in the fourth floor. We were happy to join the delegations from Ormoc who stayed also the fourth floor (Nay Laida Penserga, Esther Puray, Cristina Puray, Dr. Alice Togonon - President of Confraternity of Brown Scapular in Ormoc, Yeng Togonon and the other visiting friends or the ordinandi)

JULY 20, 2011 WED

The Ordination for Priesthood of Fr. Edgar Cayanan and Fr. Fernando Lopez took place in Our Lady Mount Carmel Shrine in Broadway, Quezon City. We were welcomed by the Discalced friars who joined us in the Ordination. Bishop Socrates Villegas was the Ordaining Prelate. After the ordination, the reception took place at Mark Horan Hall at the back of the Carmelite Church. In the afternoon, Fr. Toto was brought by the Nanays from Ormoc to visit their families in Marikina City.



JULY 21, 2011 THU

At 6am Fr. Edgar Cayanan celebrated his first Mass in Santa Teresa of Avila Chapel in the 4th floor of the Institute for Spirituality Asia (ISA) Building. Before and after the Mass, Fr. Edgar did his first confession with the group of ladies from Ormoc.

JULY 22, 2011 FRI

Arrival of Fr. Toto and Fr. Emman from the ordination in Manila. Their plane landed via Davao and had a land trip from there.

JULY 23, 2011 SAT

Fr. Toto Jaranilla gave the recollection for the Lectors, Commentators and Psalmists (Lecomm) of the Sacred Heart Parish. About two hundred Lecomm participated in the said event. This is the second group as previously he handled more than 300 participants. There will be three batches of the said Lecomm recollections.



JULY 24, 2011 SUN

We received two Sisters of the Institute of our Lady of Mount Carmel. They are here for vocation promotion. The postulants are also with us after their first phase exposure of Por Cristo, home for the aged.

JULY 25, 2011 MON

Feast day of Saint James. The grade two section of Mount Carmel College (Elementary Department) celebrated in advance Blessed John Soreth. Fr. Alain requested Fr. Toto Jaranilla to relate to the children the life and influence of John Soreth to the Church. The children were very enthusiastic while listening to Soreth's life story.

JULY 27, 2011 WED

The newly ordained priest, Rev. Fr. Edgar Cayanan, O.Carm. visited Agusan Carmel for his thanksgiving. In the evening, we celebrated the Feast day of Blessed Titus Brandsma in a fellowship while sharing wine and ice cream.

JULY 28, 2011 THU

Early in the morning, the Prior and Formator of the Postulants, Fr. Tim with the postulants and Bro. Irvin Mangmang went to San Luis, Agusan del Sur to arrange for the exposure of the postulants with the Lumad. After which, they proceeded to Butuan to Por Cristo Home for the Elderly for the final phase of the immersion of the postulants.

JULY 29, 2011 FRI

We received Fr. Fernando Lopez for a short stay to celebrate his thanksgiving Masses with the parishioners of San Francisco. Toto had some confession and a marriage counseling today.

JULY 30, 2011 SAT

The last batch of Lectors, Commentators and Psalmists had their recollection. At 3pm, the culminating Mass was presided by Fr. Fernando Lopez, O.Carm.

JULY 31, 2011 SUN

Thanksgiving Masses of Fr. Fernando Lopez and Fr. Edgar Cayanan. During the second Mass, we received and renew the promises of more than 700 lectors, commentators and psalmists who were serving our different Family Groupings and Chapels. In the evening, a feast was prepared for Frs. Deng and Egay in the GKK Hall. Three lechons were offered for the new priests. The parish council, host parents of the newly ordained, the Carmel youth, staff and co-workers in the parish joined the celebrations.

AUGUST 1, 2011 MON

The community of Carmel Agusan travelled to Carmel Manila via Butuan to attend the spirituality forum. Upon our arrival in the Manila airport, we were met by the group of Carmelites leaving for Malang, Indonesia to attend the conference on Carmelite schools. Fr. Alain, Karl Reformina and some teachers and students are going to attend the said conference. We were then hosted to an expensive dinner in Manila Resort Hotel by the family friends of Arlene Cabanban and Lea Cabanban our associates who are with us to attend the Spirituality forum. Rocky Lee fetched us from the airport via the L300.
